World's Longest Hockey Game

Brent's relationship with the Alberta Cancer Foundation began in 1991 when his father, Terry, passed away from cancer. One of Terry's final wish was that children shouldn’t have to suffer from this disease. Brent made good on that promise, and in 1996 he began the “Annual Terry Saik Memorial” golf and baseball tournaments. To date, those events raised $35,000. In 2003, 2005, 2008, 2011, and 2015, Brent organized the “World’s Longest Hockey Game”.

The initial game was held in memory of his father Terry and raised over $150,000 to purchase a Gene Analyzer used in Paediatric Cancer Research. Two years later, the game raised $350,000 in memory of his wife Susan, who passed away in the summer of 2003. These funds purchased a Micro-array Platform.

The 2008 games raised $558,468 used to fund a Confocal Microscope. The 2011 game raised a whopping 1.1 Million dollars in support of a new Linear Accelerator, used in radiation treatments. The 2015 game has raised $1,262,691.52 and counting. These funds will be used to purchase a PET-MR machine
